Adventure trail at the village pond inaugurated

Interesting facts about flora and fauna on five information boards

Anyone who takes a walk around Wenningstedt's village pond will quickly notice that there's a lot of life here! And there's a lot going on around this inland waterway.
Now an adventure trail has been inaugurated that aims to make all this life visible and explain it.

An adventure trail now provides even more good reasons to take a walk here again. "A total of five panels show exactly what flies, buzzes, and hums here. We want to convey knowledge and bring nature closer," explains Maike Lappoehn, managing director of the Sylt Nature Conservation Association, which oversaw and developed the project.

"We want to make the area around the pond more attractive for children and young people without making it noisy. The village pond should remain a quiet area, both for people and for the many animals that live here," adds Katrin Thies, deputy mayor of Wenningstedt-Braderup.

Nature explorers will find a wealth of information on various topics on the panels: Which ducks live here? Where do geese come from? What does a thriving flowering meadow need? They can read and rotate the panels, and listen to and identify bird calls using QR codes. A true enrichment for this already beautiful place.

The project was implemented by the Village Pond Working Group, which is part of the Nature 2.0 focus group led by Heike Müller-Jörgensen. The Sylt Nature Conservation Association was responsible for the conceptual design. The Bingo Environmental Lottery and the Wenningstedt-Braderup municipality provided financial support for the installation of the panels.
