More than 34,55 runners tackle the 1.400-kilometer island course. However, bib numbers are usually snapped up in no time by November. Of course, there's no registration deadline for watching and cheering on the traditional Sylt Run. And so the unwavering all-weather athletes begin their battle with the elements in List. There, the race starts at 10 a.m., whatever the wind and weather! A swirling rain shower? Yes, it happens. But it doesn't scare anyone. Then it's all south, where the runners are cheered on by loud voices along the course—a special way to run along the Westerland promenade. There are still several kilometers of windy dune terrain to conquer before the finish line in Hörnum at the Fünf-Städte-Heim (five-city home), which, depending on your performance, takes place between 12 and 14 p.m.
Would you like to be there?
You can find all details from the organizer tinnum66, who, despite the large number of people, still runs the event in a very personal and familiar way, with a pasta party the evening before and an award ceremony in the Westerland Congress Centre.
Watching tip:
From around 11 a.m. the Sylt runners will be running along the Westerland promenade and would love for you to cheer them on!
