From windsurfing to kitesurfing and wing foiling to surfing, both pros and amateur surfers will get their money's worth. Would you rather watch the action on the water from the Westerland promenade? Then simply make yourself comfortable in one of the various relaxation areas or in a beach chair. The appropriate supporting program is provided at all events. The events also always offer a varied culinary offering. Last but not least: All Surf Cups on Sylt are notorious for their parties. Whether in the event tent or in the fresh air, enjoy the island however you like.

Summer is just around the corner and will be ushered in with the legendary "Summer Opening," Sylt's first surf event of the year! And while the party animals still have plenty of time to catch up on the action, the surfers of the California Summer Opening Sylt are getting into top shape in their winter quarters, far away from the sub-zero temperatures. It goes without saying that they'll be bringing not only a sunny disposition but also a corresponding temperature in their board bags to Sylt for the official kickoff of the summer season at Whitsun. At least, we hope so; there are no limits to optimism. Either way, you can look forward to exciting and boozy weeks of windsurfing.

Wingfoiling & Windsurfing

The California Summer Opening Sylt finds from 21. to 26. May 2026 and is the highest ranking regatta series in windsurfing. California Wingfoil Masters Sylt will The first date is from 14 May to 17 May 2026.

PETRO-SURF Festival Sylt

Air-cooled cultural mix on Sylt: Look forward to vintage cars, cool music, art, surf action from June 26th to 28th, 2026.

The Petro-Surf event will take place in Rantum again in 2026: With the Beach Restaurant Samoa Seahorse An ideal location has been found that allows visitors to experience surfing and air-cooled Porsche vehicles with all their senses. To immerse themselves in the world of Porsche surfing, there will once again be a surf contest, various exhibitions, as always a selection of air-cooled cars, and much more!

Am June 27, 2026 from 14 p.m. Everyone is invited to join the Petro-Surf Festival festivities for free at the Samoa Seepferdchen beach restaurant. Vehicles will be parked there, along with live DJs, food and drink stalls. Tickets are required for the remaining days.

With the diverse supporting program on land, you almost have to be careful not to miss the competitions on the water. But despite side events and a wide variety of culinary offerings, the kitesurfing competitions remain the focus when the Defender GKA Kite Surf World Cup Sylt starts on August 25. Until August 30, international professionals will be on their boards, performing spectacular wave rides and flying stunts near the shore.

What happens at the Kite Surf World Cup on Sylt?

The Defender GKA Kite-Surf World Cup Sylt will take place on Sylt for the sixth time in 2026 and is the only tour stop in Germany. Combining the disciplines of WAVE, STRAPLESS FREESTYLE, and HYDROFOIL, the world's best riders will compete at the highest level. In addition to important ranking points for the World Championship title, there is a total prize pool of €30.000 at stake. Kitesurfing equipment manufacturers will be on hand to showcase their latest products, offer workshops, and answer questions about the products. Kitesurfing pros will be available for fans to sign autographs and pose for photos. All kiters who would like to test the equipment can do so free of charge at the event site on Brandenburg Beach.

Those less sporty can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the promenade and watch the competition on the water in a relaxed beach atmosphere. A wide variety of food and drink are available until sunset.

WINDSURF WORLD CUP SYLT

The windsurfing elite will be visiting Sylt from 25.9 September to 4.10.2026 October XNUMX

Experience the world's best windsurfers at Brandenburg Beach in Westerland on the island of Sylt! While the North Sea waves usually don't reach Hawaiian heights, the Sylt wind ensures that the boards pick up considerable speed, and in the wave, freestyle, and slalom disciplines, daring jumps, spectacular turns, and blistering speeds are on the water.
