Kai Diekmann
“I was BILD”

As the longest-serving editor-in-chief of the BILD newspaper, Kai Diekmann addressed the issues that moved the country day after day. The republic's powerful people flocked to his editorial office, confided in him, leaked state secrets to him - or talked themselves into trouble on his voicemail. From tabloids to state affairs: Kai Diekmann always knew where to find the headline for the next issue in the current events. In I was BILD, he tells the stories behind these headlines - and how they changed him and the republic. In I was BILD, Kai Diekmann gives exclusive insights behind the scenes of Europe's largest-circulation tabloid. He tells of Wulff's legendary phone call and his long and profound fall from grace, of Putin's swimming trunks and Erdoğan's outbursts, of his deep friendship with Helmut Kohl and the passionately fought hostilities with Schröder and the left-wing taz, of the Wallraff wiretapping affair and the only interview Trump ever gave to a German journalist. I was BILD is a surprisingly different history of the Berlin Republic, a fast-paced narrative full of revelations, based on previously unknown sources, lavishly illustrated with never-before-seen photos and documents.

Heinz Strunk
“Magic Mountain 2”

With The Magic Mountain 2, Heinz Strunk pays a tongue-in-cheek nod to Thomas Mann's world-famous classic – a young man, a sanatorium, a long state of emergency. Sound familiar? Yes. It's nevertheless a very unique story that pays subtle homage to the great role model. Strunk, known for his laconic humor and ruthless powers of observation (Meat Is My Vegetable, The Golden Glove), tells of an escape from one's own life – bitter, funny, unique. Jonas Heidbrink has achieved everything – young, rich, free. But happiness eludes him. In a fit of escape, he travels to a remote sanatorium in Mecklenburg: noble, otherworldly, strange. Between visits, treatments, and strange encounters, Heidbrink loses contact with the outside world. A mysterious accident in the swamps throws everything into disarray. Although no world war breaks out in the end, not all of the protagonists escape unscathed.

Dietrich Grönemeyer
“Aging naturally”

For physician, scientist, and bestselling author Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer, aging is not a flaw – but a natural process that we can actively shape. In a healthy, conscious, and enjoyable way. With his tireless vision of a humane, modern medicine, Grönemeyer shows in his book Naturally Aging! how we can experience aging more calmly, more consciously, and with a dose of curiosity – entirely without dogma, but with attitude. An invitation to value ourselves – and to fill our own years with dignity, exercise, and humanity.
