The finest asphalt awaits your wheels on this inline skating tour! From Westerland, you'll cycle alongside the main road on a wide bike path to Rantum.

This route is one of the few on Sylt where skaters can enjoy several kilometers of smooth asphalt. It leads from Westerland through the Sylt dune landscape and along the island's few forests to Rantum. The more than 5-kilometer route can be extended to 10 kilometers either one-way with a subsequent bus ride back to Westerland, or the same route back.

Directions

From the starting point, we stay right next to the road on the bike path. This leads to a T-junction (at the beach oasis), where we cross the road and continue parallel to the road, sheltered by trees, until we reach the entrance to Rantum. Once there, we stay on the path, using the paved road until we reach the Rantum fire station. There, the paved road ends, so we turn around and retrace our steps back to the starting point.

Since the route is only partially protected from the wind by trees, windproof clothing is recommended.

Arrival & Parking

The tour can be started either from Rantum or from Westerland. In Westerland, the tour begins at the edge of town at Lorens-de-Hahn-Straße/corner of Halemdüür, and in Rantum, it begins at the Rantum fire station.

You can park for free on Halemdüür Street right next to the start in Westerland or in the allotment association car park a few hundred metres away.

The start in Rantum is located directly at the bus stop "Rantum-Seeheim" (line 2).

Our tip

A stop at Rantum Harbor is worthwhile. The asphalt road there is a bit older, but passable.

safety instructions

Between the Strandoase and Dikjen Deel, as well as between the TUI Dorfhotel and the Rantum fire department, the route runs directly alongside trees. Especially in autumn or after storms, the path there can be covered with pine needles, etc., so drive carefully!

During peak season, the route is also used by many cyclists. However, for the most part, the path is wide enough for overtaking.
