Enjoy a jog along quiet bike paths through nature and along the beach promenade right by the water. Two small climbs and a beach staircase invite you to work off some energy.

This beautiful running loop from Wenningstedt to Westerland is perfect for clearing your head. Some of the routes are identical on the outward and return journeys, so it's not difficult to find the right path. In Wenningstedt, you start in the town center at the Gosch restaurant. After a short stretch on quiet roads, the footpath and cycle path to Westerland continues away from the main roads. Shortly before Westerland, the wooden plank path begins directly on the beach. To get there, you have to climb a dune using wooden stairs. With a view of the North Sea, the route continues to Brandenburg Beach, where the wind-protected return route awaits and two small climbs await just before the end.

Directions

Start the tour at the Dünenstraße parking lot near the "new" Gosch in Wenningstedt. Walk south on Dünenstraße and then turn right at the next opportunity. There's a brief, gentle climb. This is Hochkamp, which branches off to the left after a few meters and becomes the Sea Dune. Follow this road until it meets the footpath and cycle path towards Westerland. Continue straight ahead. At the Nordseeklinik (North Sea Clinic), the path splits; take the right path there. A short while later, you'll see the "S-Point" bistro on the right, where a wooden staircase leads over the dune to the beach. Use this staircase and walk along the beach on the other side of the dune to the promenade, following the beautiful wooden plank path. Once you reach the promenade, turn left after the "Sunset Beach" bistro, then immediately left again and follow the footpath back to Wenningstedt.

Arrival & Parking

Coming from Westerland, take Westerlandstraße into Wenningstedt and then turn left onto Risgap. At the end of the road, just turn left a short distance, and you'll find the parking lot on the right.

There is a large paid parking lot at the starting point.

Take bus lines 1, 3, and 3a to the Wenningstedt/Mitte stop. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the starting point.

Our tip

It's best to run this route in the evening when there is less going on and you can enjoy the sunset on the beach while you run.
