Just under 10 kilometers, you can experience the island's diversity, with its dunes, cliffs, forests, and lighthouses. From the family-friendly town of Wenningstedt to fashionable Kampen and back again.

A beautiful loop with plenty of variety in the nature of the paths and surroundings – on roads through the village, on boardwalks through the dunes, and on footpaths through forests. Perfect for exploring the island alongside exercise. From Wenningstedt, you walk through the village along the village pond and, with a view of the "Langer Christian," the Kampen lighthouse, to Kampen. From there, you pass the cross-marked lighthouse and the famous storm hood on the hiking trail above the Red Cliff. The view from the Uwe Dune is followed by the wooded path through the Sylt Sagenwald forest back to Wenningstedt. The final section is again on the hiking trail above the Red Cliff, with fantastic sea views.

Directions

You start on Dünenstraße for a short stretch heading south, but then turn left at the Haus am Kliff onto the next street (Strandstraße). Follow Strandstraße until you reach Westerlandstraße, where you then turn left again. Follow the road and turn half-left at the village pond. Continue along the pond towards the church, behind which you then turn left again. After a short stretch, take the first turning to the right and then immediately left again. You are now on the footpath and cycle path to Kampen, which you follow until you have almost left Kampen behind you. Near the lighthouse, turn left onto the narrow Dünenweg. Follow this until you reach a wooden staircase on the left that leads up to the lighthouse; this is your route. Follow this path until you reach the Sturmhaube car park, which you cross towards the North Sea, until you turn left, again onto a wooden path, and continue walking along the Rote Kliff. Stay on this path until you reach the Uwe Dune. There, turn left and rejoin the footpath and cycle path between Kampen and Wenningstedt. Now walk south until you reach the Kampen campsite, at the edge of town, where a path leads right into a small wood. Cross this and stay on the path at the next clearing. You will arrive at the Sylter Sagenwald (Sylt Forest of Legends), an adventure playground. After the wood, follow the path straight ahead until you reach the Sylt Clinic. There, keep right and use the next beach crossing to reach the hiking trail above the Red Cliff with a sea view. Once there, walk along the top of the dune until the wooden path leads you back down to the car park, the starting point.

Arrival & Parking

Coming from Westerland, pass the Nordseeklinik and follow Westerlandstraße until you can turn left onto Mittelweg. The route starts at the parking lot at the end of this road.

The starting point is directly next to a large paid parking lot.

Take lines 1, 3, and 3a from Westerland, List, and Keitum to the Wenningstedt Mitte stop. From there, just walk up Mittelweg to the starting point.
