The jogging route along the Westerland beach promenade offers a fantastic view of the North Sea and the beach.

The beach promenade, partly paved and partly consisting of a wooden walkway, is perfect for a jog with a view of the sea. This allows you to enjoy the North Sea without the strenuous running on the sand. Quiet and sheltered paths behind the dunes run parallel to the beach promenade, completing the route. It can be reached from anywhere in Westerland in just a few minutes and can easily be extended north or south.

Directions

The jogging route starts at the Schützenplatz car park with the biggest challenge of the route: climbing the Himmelsleiter (Stairway to Heaven), the island's highest beach steps at 26 meters. From the top, you have a wonderful view of the beach. The wooden walkway directly on the beach continues along the beach, past Badezeit, where the paved area of the beach promenade begins, to Brandenburger Strand, where you return to a wooden walkway. This leads to the S-Point restaurant. Here, you bid farewell to the beach via a fairly high set of beach steps. The hiking and cycling path now leads past Sylt roses and protected by dunes, via Strandstraße and Friedrichstraße back to Schützenplatz.
