Good to know

Our tip

In Kampen, it's worth taking a short break from cycling and climbing the 110 steps of the Uwe Dune. On a clear day, you can see as far as List and Morsum from here. The best view of the Red Cliff can also be enjoyed from the hiking trail above the cliff, starting at the Sturmhaube viewpoint.

Directions

The tour starts at Westerland train station and first leads past the Brandenburg car park to the cycle path heading north. This runs parallel to the beach behind the dunes to Wenningstedt. Past the Haus am Kliff (House on the Cliff), we head to the village pond and Denghoog (Denghoog). From here, we continue on the cycle path to Kampen, where we make a detour to the Sturmhaube (Storm Hood) to look out over the Rote Kliff (Red Cliff). Back in the village center, we head along the famous Whiskey Mile and the Wattweg (Mudflat Path) to the Kupferkanne (Copper Can). We then cycle directly past Kampen's landmark, the black-and-white lighthouse, and along the Braderup Heath to Braderup. From here, the cycle path runs parallel to the road via Munkmarsch to Keitum. At St. Severin Church, we turn into town and cycle parallel to the mudflats past the Sylt museums to the Harhoog megalithic tomb. From here, we turn off and take the underpass at Keitum train station and the Siidik (Sidik) to Tinnum. In the Tinnum meadows we cycle past the zoo and Tinnumburg before we return to Westerland train station on the cycle path.

Equipment

Parts of the cycle route are not protected from the wind, so windproof clothing and an e-bike are recommended in strong winds.
