The RUN around the Rantum Basin takes place every year in September and leads from Rantum harbor in a clockwise direction around the Rantum Basin.

During the RUN around the Rantum Basin, you can enjoy views of the Wadden Sea National Park and experience the expanse of the North Sea along the entire route. The route runs entirely on dikes. The challenge of the Rantum Basin circuit is the wind, which blows from the front at least once due to the square-shaped course. Occasionally, you'll have to dodge a sheep or open a sheep gate. However, the flat paths don't involve any elevation gain, and there are no roads or traffic lights along the route.

The Rantum Basin RUN route is perfect for a follow-up run, even outside of the event. It's guaranteed to clear your head!

Directions

The start is at Rantum Harbor. The route initially heads clockwise past the Sylt spring and the campsite to the top of the unpaved dike. A refreshment stand awaits halfway along the route. From there, the dike is paved with gravel and later with asphalt.

The partially unpaved dike crest can be muddy, slippery and uneven depending on the season.

Depending on the season and wind strength, weatherproof clothing is recommended.

Arrival & Parking

From Hörnumer Straße, take the exit towards Dorfhotel Sylt/Sylt-Quelle/Hafen and follow Hafenstraße to the harbor.

There is a public, free parking lot directly at Rantum harbor.

You can easily reach the starting point of the jogging route by bus on Sylter Verkehrsgesellschaft's line 2. From the Rantum Nord stop, it's a 1 km walk to the starting point.
