The Red Cliff stretches between Wenningstedt and Kampen, rising up to 30 meters above the beach and living up to its name, especially in the evening light. This hike takes you from Wenningstedt above the cliff to Kampen, offering stunning views of Sylt's west beach at all times. Once you reach Kampen, the view is even better with the view from the Uwe Dune (Sylt's highest point at 52 meters). In good weather, you can see all the way to the northern and eastern tips of Sylt and spot the other island towns thanks to their lighthouses and church towers. In Kampen, the walk continues past the iconic Sturmhaube (storm hood) and the Kampen lighthouse to the beach, before heading back to Wenningstedt below the Red Cliff at the high tide line. From this perspective, the height and red color of the cliff truly become apparent.
