This inline skating tour in List runs entirely along the water. Along the paved route, you can enjoy views of Königshafen and Ellenbogen with its two lighthouses.

Fine asphalt, dunes, lighthouses, sheep, dikes, birds, and the sea—this inline skating tour truly has everything your heart desires. It starts at the Weststrandhalle parking lot, heading east along the water toward the Mövenbergdeich. To the left, you'll see the Ellenbogen with its two red and white lighthouses, in front of it, Königshafen, Germany's northernmost bay, and to the right, the pristine dune landscape of Listland with its free-roaming sheep. The dike, rebuilt in 2014, features a wide asphalt path that leads almost to Lister Hafen. From the dike, you can observe rare migratory birds as well as the typical birds of the Wadden Sea. Several benches along the route invite you to linger and enjoy the view. The return journey along the same route is never boring, as the landscape continually offers new perspectives. At the end of the tour, you can stop for a refreshment at the Weststrandhalle (Wonnemeyer).

Directions

We start at the Weststrand parking lot and cycle east along the paved bike path to the left of the main road. We leave the Ellenbogen entrance on our left and continue to the youth hostel, where we cross the road. From there, we cycle right next to the road. The path leads up a small hill to the start of the Mövenberg dike, where we cross the road for the second time. Beyond the sheep fence, we leave the main road and follow the dike path for about 2 kilometers to the end of the dike. There we turn around, as the paved road turns into a gravel road, and cycle back the same route to the starting point.

The route is not protected from the wind, so windproof clothing is recommended in strong winds.

Arrival & Parking

From Westerland, follow the signs toward List. After the Süderheidetal valley, before List, turn left onto the old Listlandstraße toward Weststrand. Just before the road to Ellenbogen, turn left into the Weststrandhalle parking lot.

Right at the start of the tour is the Weststrand car park, which is subject to a fee during the summer months (3€ per day).

The tour starts at the Weststrandhalle car park, which can be reached via the beach bus service on line 1 (Weststrand stop).

If you want to extend the route by 2-3 kilometers, you can take a southern detour from the start of the Mövenberg dike to the entrance of List.
