Variety is guaranteed on this tour, as you'll cycle from and to Hörnum on two different bike paths through the pristine dune landscape. In maritime Hörnum, you'll discover not only Hörnumer Odde, the southern tip of the island, but also culinary specialties such as Sylt mussels. On the return trip, you'll cycle back to Westerland via the Rantum Basin instead of the direct route. On the car-free dike, you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Wadden Sea and birdwatch. As a contrast to the dunes, the tour ends with a ride through the green meadows of Tinnum.

Directions
The tour starts in Westerland and takes a direct route via Rantum to Hörnum. On the outward journey, we cycle parallel to the road on the paved cycle path to Hörnum. After a short loop through Hörnum, we return towards Rantum on the old island railway line, which leads a little further away from the road through the dune landscape. This path is mostly gravel. Once in Rantum, we turn off the main road and cycle along the dike past Rantum Harbor and around the Rantum Basin. On the other side of the Rantum Basin, we then cycle through the Tinnum meadows, past the zoo and Tinnumburg Castle, back to Westerland Train Station.

Our tip
The Hörnum lighthouse can be visited every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday during the season. It's an absolute highlight with stunning views over the southern island and as far as Amrum and Föhr. Advance online reservations are required, however!
