A fantastic running route with a beautiful view of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, the beautiful St. Severin Church and through the picturesque alleys of the old captain's village of Keitum.

This varied trail boasts sweeping views of the Wadden Sea and the island. On a clear day, you'll be able to see not only Munkmarsch harbor, but also the Kampen lighthouse and the northernmost town of List. To the east of the island, you can glimpse the Morsum Cliff and the trains traveling along the railway embankment. The route follows a hiking trail along the Green Cliff to the famous St. Severin Church. On the return journey, a lovely walk through the narrow streets with the beautifully maintained old thatched-roof houses and gardens of Keitum awaits you. It's an ideal tour when the west wind is blowing hard, as the east side offers shelter and allows you to fully enjoy nature.

Directions

The starting point is the Tipkenhoog car park at the end of the village of Keitum. From there, you have a wonderful view of the mudflats, and benches invite you to warm up and stretch. Behind the car park, a fairly steep, firm sandy path leads down to the mudflats. Use this to start the run. Once you reach the bottom, take the paved path to the left, which runs directly along the water. Run towards the church, which you can clearly see from there. St. Severin's Church is also the turning point for the loop. You can recognize the entrance to the church by a bench under the trees. In front of the church, turn left onto Alter Kirchweg. Follow this path for quite a while until you reach the other end of the village. At the Grünhof riding stables, turn left and circle the edge of the village. When you see the Harhoog megalithic tomb and the Wadden Sea again, you are only a few meters from the starting point.
