The Sylt Museum, also known as the Local History Museum, was built in 1759. The museum is located in a captain's house above the Green Cliff. You enter the grounds through the lower jawbone of a fin whale. Here, you'll learn fascinating information about the island of Sylt. From illustrative materials on prehistory and geology to an extensive collection of historical Sylt items such as traditional costumes, spinning wheels, and decorative tiles, you can also learn exciting stories about seafaring and whaling, as well as important Sylt personalities.
