The chapel square in Wenningstedt is a meeting place for locals and visitors.
In good weather and for concerts, the iismeer snack truck Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 during the summer months, serving coffee, homemade organic ice cream, snacks and drinks.
From April to September, the weekly open boules game is Sylt meatballs instead. Here You can find the current times here.
In the Wenningstedt Games Boxx Bocce, Spikeball, Viking chess, and other games can be borrowed free of charge. Open-air concerts, film screenings, and workshops are held regularly. A particular highlight is the... “Everyday People” , which are a popular subject for photography as public art.
The name Kapellenplatz (Chapel Square) derives from the fact that the Wenningstedt church was originally supposed to be built on this site at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, the square was located on the southernmost edge of the town.
However, the residents of Wenningstedt insisted that the church should be located in a more central location, and so the Frisian Chapel was built by the village pond (and now stands at the northern edge of town... Times change.
