Frisian Chapel

Tip:
Churches
Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Norddörfer parish.
The Frisian Chapel, located directly on Wenningstedt's village pond, is one of the island's newest churches. The foundation stone for the building was laid in 1914, and the consecration took place on June 20.06.1915, XNUMX.
The vaulted ceiling is painted with eleven biblical images in the folk painting style. The chancel features authentic Frisian wall decoration with its white and blue Delft tile cross.
In front of the Frisian Chapel stands a 2,20-meter-tall sculpture by Christel Lechner. The work, "View of Sorquitten," commemorates the long-standing friendship between the Norddörfer parish and its Polish partner parish in Sorquitten, where a similar fisherman sculpture (View of Sylt) was erected.
The Frisian Chapel has three bells. The first bell rang in March 1932, and two more in 1966. The organ was installed in 1963 and was built by master organ builder Eberhard Tolle.

Regular church services and church concerts take place in the Friesenkapelle.
