In April 2022, Alexander Hornemann and Jenny Zimmerer-Röseler opened another branch on the North Sea coast: The Donkey Gallery in Kampen on Sylt.
It will complement the magnificent salon and bel étage rooms on Königsallee and Kurfürstendamm. The thatched-roof gallery will present a changing selection of avant-garde jewelry and art objects throughout the year.
The small, listed salesroom offers the opportunity to experience the works of the goldsmith's studio in a special atmosphere. Objects such as the lighthouse lamps, created in collaboration with sculptor Olivia Berckemeyer, known for her wax sculptures, are presented in action. Cast in bronze, they line the entrance door. Classic display cases are replaced by thatched glass cubes suspended from the ceiling, floating in front of the windows. The name of the Donkey Gallery consciously emphasizes the aspect of lightness and underlines the small humorous “wink” that connects all of the studio’s jewelry pieces, which are made with precise craftsmanship and high-quality materials.
Since its founding, the Georg Hornemann studio has pursued its own creative direction in its designs and creations. The figure of the donkey almost seems like a fitting patron saint, as these animals are considered not only highly intelligent but also living beings who follow their own personal intuition and are not easily distracted.
