Every year on February 21st, winter is banished with the burning of the Biike (lit. "Biike"). In Tinnum, locals gather with their families and guests for the torchlight procession at the Tinnum fire station, where the torches are distributed and lit. Then, everyone walks together to the Biike (lit. "Biike") at Tinnum Castle. Before the Biike is lit, there is a traditional speech in Frisian and German. When the final cry of "Tjen di Biiki ön" is heard, the Biike is lit. This is accompanied by music and hot mulled wine.
