Biikeplatz List on Sylt

Behind the residential area "Am Königshafen," winter is driven out every year on February 21st in List on Sylt (as everywhere else on the island) according to Frisian tradition. After a candlelit service in the Protestant St. Jürgen Church, torches are distributed. The torchlight procession leads from the church to the Biike bonfire site behind the Königshafen residential area.
After the German and Frisian speeches, when the cry of "Tjen di Biiki ön" is heard, the Biike is lit – a large pile of Christmas trees and hedge trimmings, at the top of which a effigy is attached.
