Arrival by train
Those wishing to reach AWI Sylt by train must take the train to Westerland station. From there, take bus line 1 (toward List) to the "List Hafen" stop. Important note: The Schleswig-Holstein Ticket and the "Schöne-Wochenendticket" (Summer Weekend Ticket) offered by Deutsche Bahn are not valid on Sylt buses. Therefore, each passenger must purchase a bus ticket from the bus driver.
Once you get off at the "List Hafen" bus stop, it's about a five-minute walk to AWI Sylt. The institute building is located behind the widely visible "Naturgewalten" (Nature Forces Experience Center).
Arriving by car:
If you want to travel to List by car, first drive to Niebüll and take the car train (Syltshuttle) to Westerland from Niebüll station. This train terminates at Westerland station (ZOB) on Sylt. From there, follow the signs to List. After the town entrance sign, follow the signs to the harbor. Once you arrive at the harbor, you can see the Natural Forces Adventure Center from afar, with parking available in front of the building. From there, it's about a five-minute walk to the institute building, which is located directly behind the Adventure Center and does not offer parking for guests. Therefore, please use the parking lot in front of the Adventure Center.
