Renowned literary figures , time-honored holidays , and culinary adventures: Kampen's event calendar offers a diverse range of activities throughout the year. We celebrate the Frisian national holiday, Biike, with you, and in the summer, we host the longest picnic on the beach, all dressed in white. Well-known and acclaimed authors will read to you. We kick off the coziest time of the year together with the lighting of the Christmas lights. Santa Claus is a regular visitor to the Christmas market , and on New Year's Eve, we bid farewell to the old year. All this and much more awaits you in Kampen.

A colorful shopping experience awaits: The Kampen second-hand market takes place twice a year in the heart of the village, at the Kaamp-Hüs. Both in spring and autumn, you can find wonderfully preserved used clothing, furniture, books, toys, and more at fair prices. Your purchase even supports a good cause.

Upcoming Events

We're chasing away winter! On February 21st, the evening begins at 17:45 pm with a gathering in front of the Kampen Volunteer Fire Department's fire station for the lighting of torches. A long, picturesque procession of lights and beaming faces will then make its way to the Biike bonfire site near the golf course by the lighthouse. The Frisian national anthem ("Üüs Sölring Lön") will be sung, speeches will be given, perhaps the first drink of the day ("Sünhair!") will be enjoyed, and this Frisian tradition of bonfire burning will be celebrated.

On Easter Sunday, March 28th, the starting gun will fire around 14:00 PM for the legendary Easter egg race in Strönwai ("Whisky Mile"), lovingly organized and accompanied, or rather led, for years by Kampen restaurateurs, some of whom even don the famous fur and don the renowned and very convincing bunny costumes. That alone makes the event worth attending.

No advance registration is necessary, just be on time at Strönwai! We wish you a wonderful Easter with us on Sylt!

The Kampen Classics are not a typical vintage car meet. They are a curated homage to automotive culture, craftsmanship, and lifestyle – open to people who appreciate the extraordinary.

From June 18th to 21st, 2026, the Strönwai in Kampen , the legendary whisky mile, became the focal point of this gathering. Classic and modern classic cars weren't parked on the sidelines, but right in the heart of the village – embedded in the architecture, the landscape, and the unique rhythm of Sylt. Here, it wasn't about judging or competition, but about the experience: about sound, lines, history, and the joy of being part of a community that unites quality, style, and substance.

There are many white dinners. But only we here in Kampen offer a white dinner with a magnificent beach view in one of Germany's most beautiful locations ! A stylish picnic all in white , with old and new friends.

Laughter, chatting, celebrating, feeling your feet in the sand , enjoying the sound of the waves and the sunset – that's how we celebrate our White Dinner on the beach in Kampen. Come join us!

Kampen Summer Festival 2027 – We’re bringing the Whisky Mile to life!

On August 13th and 14th, 2027, the picturesque town of Kampen will once again transform into the stage for one of Sylt's most atmospheric summer events: the Kampen Summer Festival . Under the motto "Pure Joy of Life," the Kampen Tourist Service invites you to an unforgettable weekend full of culinary delights, music, and the Sylt way of life – stylish, charming, and with true island spirit.

Around the legendary Whisky Mile, guests can expect a lively atmosphere from 16 pm onwards: Sylt's trendy restaurants will be serving up delicacies for every taste on the street food mile . In the adjacent marquee in the parking lot, live music and DJ sets will keep the party going until 23 pm.

Free entry – good atmosphere guaranteed.

Fun, games and adventures on the beach! From the beginning of July to the end of August, children aged 6 and over can enjoy a varied program from Monday to Friday, including beach games, treasure hunts, pirate days, beach Olympics, volleyball and much more.

Participation is free. No registration is required – just come along and join in! The current program details are announced daily on the information boards at the Sturmhaube and Kaamps 7 beach access points.

Kampen, the beach, a relaxing spot in the sun, a delicious ice cream in hand, and the soothing sound of the sea playing on a loop in the background : For many, that already sounds like a pretty perfect summer day .
