How lonely was God before creation? Why did Eve eat the forbidden apple? And what does the Flood have to do with climate change? Sisters Sabine Rückert, deputy editor-in-chief of ZEIT for many years, and Johanna Haberer, professor of theology, talk about the Bible. They recount all the stories they grew up with as pastors' daughters – and in doing so, do away with kitsch and clichés. They ask: What do the ancient myths of the Bible tell us today? Among pastors' daughters, no one wants to convert anyone, but rather to tell stories and encourage reflection: What is actually contained in the Book of Books? Both women were strongly influenced by their parents' home – an open, Protestant home with plenty of religion, discussion, and humor. In this conversation, they explain why they have remained faithful to the Bible to this day, what they doubt, what they are amazed by, and what wisdom, insight into human nature, and moral guidance they have taken from this ancient book for today. And they give an outlook on their new podcast, which will launch in summer 2025.
