During the season, the Adler Express departs daily from Hörnum to Amrum (stay 3,5 hours) and Hallig Hooge (stay 2,25 hours).
Trip to the seal banks
A trip to the seal banks allows you to observe the North Sea's most placid creatures in their natural habitat, the sandbanks off Sylt. Depending on the tide, you might see entire colonies of hundreds of animals, or sometimes just a small family. During the tour, the sailors lower a small net into the water and show you on board what's lurking on the seabed. You might find everything from mussels to algae, crabs, and starfish. This makes the trip not just entertaining but also an interesting educational experience for all ages. With a bit of luck, you might even see a few porpoises leaping through the waves of Hörnum.

Have you always wanted to visit Germany's only offshore island? You can do so conveniently from Hörnum! Several times a week The MS Adler Cat sails to Heligoland in just over two hours. You'll stay there for almost four hours. Plenty of time to hike to Lange Anna, observe the local birdlife, and do some duty-free shopping. In the evening, you'll return to Sylt. An absolute highlight for all island lovers!

Because before Hörnum mussels bred and harvested. Fishermen head to the mussel beds almost daily between July and April. May and June are the closed season in the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea. The modern, specialized sea rescue vessel is deployed on the east and west sides of Hörnum, as well as between the islands of Sylt and Amrum. The crew consists of volunteers. The entire work of the DGzRS is funded entirely by donations.
