The Hörnum Easter fire
Experience the traditional Easter bonfire in Hörnum, a favorite among locals. Torches go on sale at the beach chair hall at 20:00 pm. Once you arrive at the campsite, the large bonfire will be lit at 20:30 pm, creating a cozy atmosphere among the dunes. DJ Kentho will be spinning tunes for dancing and celebrating. The local fire department will also be there, serving bratwurst and drinks.

midsummer night
When a torchlight hike turns into a beach party, it can only be Midsummer Night in Hörnum!
The shortest night of the year begins with a torchlit procession around the southern tip of the island. Passing the lighthouse, the procession ends on the east beach, where chilled drinks are served around a bonfire right on the beach, accompanied by chilled music in a very special atmosphere.
The torches will be sold starting at 20:00 PM at the corner of Süderende and Odde-Wai, and the fire department will then light them on the beach. Starting at approximately 20:30 PM, we'll begin our hike around the Odde. No registration is necessary; everyone is welcome.
After the hike, there will be a late-night SVG bus from the harbor back to Westerland at 00:30 and 01:30.
Firefighters' Festival
The annual fire brigade festival of the Hörnum Volunteer Fire Brigade will take place on July 25.07th. Come along and experience a day full of action, camaraderie, and a fiery atmosphere!
The Hörnum Harbour Festival
Celebrate with us the 35th Hörnum Harbor Festival, the maritime weekend in the south of the island!
In addition to diverse live acts, a spectacular fireworks display is an absolute highlight. For our younger guests, there will be exciting children's entertainment, colorful temporary tattoos, and lots of interesting information from the Wadden Sea Conservation Station.
Culinary offerings are presented by local restaurateurs, among others.

DLRG / Niva beach festival at Hörnum's east beach
The three-hour free beach parties organized by DLRG and NIVEA are all about fun: Visitors of all ages can solve a puzzle about swimming rules, try out rescue equipment, or learn first aid techniques. They can also experience the benefits of good sun protection firsthand.
Each summer, the tour visits selected German seaside resorts on the North and Baltic Sea coasts for one afternoon. Over 100 DLRG volunteers invest their vacation time to provide families with information about water and sun, as well as the work of the DLRG.
The event will take place from 14.00 pm to 17.00 pm at Hörnum's east beach.
On a guided hike led by certified national park guide Werner Mansen or journalist Wiebke Stitz, you can experience Hörnum's nature and village history up close.

And what does the "Sylter Royal" have to do with mussels? You'll find answers to these questions on a mudflat hike. With the National Park mudflat guide, you'll have the opportunity to walk barefoot into the mudflats and explore everything.
Hike around the Odde
The classic Sylt hike – a walk along the beach around the southern tip of the island, with views of the neighboring islands of Amrum and Föhr. Werner will explain which islands and Halligen are nearby, and why the walk around the island now only takes 1,5 hours instead of the previous 3,5 hours.

Hörnum Stories of dunes, steamers and filming
Hörnum used to belong to ghosts and beachcombers. Today, it's a very special place in the south of the island, where film crews regularly visit. And in between? How was it possible for the population to suddenly increase a thousandfold? Where did the large passenger steamers dock? And how did the Kersig settlement, the little Hobbitland, come about?
