A diverse menu with refined home-style cooking, Mediterranean delicacies, and seasonal highlights. Specialties include crispy duck and meat fondue. An excellent wine list.

The Strandoase is a true gem in the dunes, just a few meters from the water. Not far from the hustle and bustle of Westerland, yet completely relaxed, the large terrace by the house with its magnificent view of the dunes invites you to lunch, dinner, coffee and cake, or a sundowner. Up to 120 guests can be seated outside in any weather. The highlight of the Strandoase is the elevated jetty terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the North Sea that is unique on Sylt. Anyone who invites their sweetheart for a sundowner in a spacious beach chair here has all the cards in their hand. Was there something else? Of course, despite all the raving, one shouldn't forget that you're visiting the Strandoase for food, which works really well here.

The bouillabaisse with North Sea fish and shrimp in a spicy tomato and vegetable broth is delicious, and the classic marinated Husum beef fillet tartare with a fried quail's egg and shaved truffle cheese is also a brilliant starter. The kitchen team serves a fantastic vegan avocado tart with tomatoes and spring onions in spicy mango chutney, just as perfectly flavorful as the buttery ox cheek braised in port wine with fingerling carrots and mashed potatoes. The absolute classic, however, is the half crispy duck with red cabbage and bread dumplings, which comes fresh from the oven on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings upon advance reservation.
