Maritime treasure chest in Westerland

If restaurants are a must on Sylt, then Seekiste belongs in the top row. Maritime ambiance, terrace (evening sun), hearty, home-style cooking: mussels, homemade sauerfleisch and Labskaus, saddle of lamb and sole, and Wiener schnitzel. Hosting parties is part of the experience here. The old brass lamps gleam golden above the tables, and the magnificent tiled walls are still more beautiful than any modern wall decoration. Numerous details, such as the pretty little figurehead and the antique nautical instruments such as a compass, foghorn, and the like, adorn the cozy little restaurant with its approximately 40 seats. It quickly becomes clear that here, at the coordinates of 54°54'.18'' north latitude and 8°18'.20'' east longitude, a ship has not just delivered a simple sea chest, but a small treasure chest.
And the guests are delighted! Many have been coming for decades, since 1971 in fact, and want their favorite mussels, the famous mussels in a curry and cream broth.
Every Tuesday is "Duck Day": Upon advance order, the ducks are freshly prepared, and the delicious aroma fills the air around the little house! Every Wednesday, potato pancakes in various variations are available.
The standard menu offers home-style, regional dishes. A changing daily special offers new culinary ideas using seasonal produce—always very tempting.
