In 1950, the artist's studio was transformed into an artists' café: "Die Kupferkanne" (The Copper Can). From here, the view stretched far across the heath and mudflats. The interior of the old bunker became a labyrinth of coziness. Winding passages and narrow steps led to enchanting grottoes, illuminated only by candlelight.
Many encounters have taken place at the Kupferkanne, and even today the café remains an undisputed meeting place for all Sylt visitors. In the delightful coffee garden with its breathtaking view over the Wadden Sea, one can once again experience a touch of that allure that captivated people thousands of years ago.
