block house
The story of BLOCK HOUSE begins in 1968 with the first restaurant on Hamburg's Dorotheenstraße. Founder Eugen Block's ambition hasn't changed since then. For more than 50 years, guests have been served the finest steaks – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside – accompanied by crisp salad and original baked potatoes with sour cream. And that's what we do in 52 restaurants across Europe.
One of perhaps the most authentic houses has been located on our beautiful island since 2001 – in the heart of Westerland, near Friedrichstraße. During the extensive renovation, typical Frisian architectural styles were incorporated to preserve the regional character of the building at the corner of Paulstraße and Neue Straße. The perfect setting to enjoy warm, family-friendly service, excellent food, and the typically cozy BLOCK HOUSE atmosphere. This is not only possible in the restaurant itself, but on nice days, of course, also in the numerous sunny outdoor seating areas.
What are you waiting for? Take your time and have your steak grilled on the 400°C lava stone grill specially developed for BLOCK HOUSE. The quality is always consistently high. The meat comes from Angus and Hereford cattle, raised year-round on pasture in Uruguay and Argentina. More and more dishes are being prepared with beef from our own regional heifer breeding program in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and New Brandenburg. The fish comes exclusively from environmentally friendly, certified fisheries, and the chicken comes from farms certified by the German Animal Welfare Association. A tasty tip for anyone who's already hungry from the sea air at lunchtime: Between 11:30 a.m. and 15:XNUMX p.m., a changing lunchtime menu provides variety on weekdays.
By the way: The special atmosphere at BLOCK HOUSE is also always a hit with younger guests! There's a special children's menu, colorful painting sets, and a little surprise for them.
A warm welcome!
