Bistro Sylt Mussels
Seafood straight from the boats that land in Hörnum's harbor. "Searched and found!" is what you could say – and that on Sylt! Do you really have to travel to a Greek island or the Adriatic to be treated to the freshest local seafood in a quaint harborside restaurant with a foreign atmosphere? Good things are so close!
After all, it's located in an inconspicuous mussel hut right on the quay of Hörnum Harbor – in the "sunny" south of the island, after all. The biggest danger would be that this somewhat makeshift mussel bistro would one day become a fine restaurant. We like it that way: the freshest mussels from the fishing boat, carefully cleaned and cooked with the necessary ingredients in a red pot, are served directly on the bare wooden table. And these mussels come from the Hörnum mussel beds within sight of the bistro. Could it be any more local?
The menu shows the standard offering with three mussel pot variations.
Trough mussels, similar to the vongole, are fished between Föhr and Amrum and are delicious when prepared with garlic, herbs and white wine, while razor clams are served grilled. Sylt Mussel Bistro It's pretty self-evident how North Sea fish are prepared. They come to the table in a completely natural and traditional way, with nothing intended to distort their natural flavor.
In addition to the standard menu, there will be special offers depending on the landings. Lobsters from Heligoland are brought to our own holding facility, where they can be selected for the seafood feast.
During opening hours. You can read the complete text with all background information in the new Sylt à la Carte. Available for €14,80 in bookstores or at www.sylt-a-la-carte.de .
