Lighthouses

There are four lighthouses and one cross mark light on Sylt: The two Lighthouses List-West and List-East at Ellenbogen, the black and white striped Lighthouse "Lange Christian" in Kampen and the lighthouse in Hörnum. 

The Hörnum Lighthouse is the only one on the island that can be visited on a guided tour. The view from the top is fantastic! Cross-mark lights is located near the Red Cliff in Kampen.

Elbow

The Elbow  in List on Sylt is the northernmost point of Germany and a true natural paradiseWith its pristine dune landscape, endless sandy beaches, and free-roaming sheep, it offers a unique setting for those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers. The Ellenbogen invites you to take long walks and enjoy impressive views of the North Sea. Swimming is not permitted due to dangerous currents

The Ellenbogen is privately owned, and the route is accessible via a toll road. The route is free for cyclists and walkers, but drivers must pay a toll.

Braderup Heath

The Braderup Heath on Sylt is an idyllic nature reserve, which is particularly popular in late summer due to the purple blossoms of the heather This tranquil landscape offers a wonderful contrast to the island's beaches. 

Picturesque wooden paths and stairs lead through the paradise, which is a Home to numerous animal and plant species With a view of the Wadden Sea, visitors can enjoy the untouched nature and experience the special atmosphere of this unique landscape.

Dune

A visit to the Uwe Dune is an absolute highlight! The Uwe Dune in Kampen is the highest elevation on Sylt and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the island. 

The climb It's worth it: From here you can enjoy a view of the dune landscape, the Wadden Sea and the North Sea.

Bird hide Kampen

The Bird hide Kampen on Sylt is a nature reservet, which was originally built in 1767 as a duck trapping facility. Today, the approximately ten-hectare area, surrounded by dense forest, is a important habitat for numerous bird speciesSince 1935, the Koje has been a nature reserve and is maintained by the Söl'ring Foriining.

A walk through the idyllic grounds, along informative signs, leads to the Wadden Sea and offers a fascinating insight into the History and nature of the island.

Red Cliff

The Red Cliff stretches over four kilometers from Kampen to Wenningstedt and is an impressive geological natural monumentIt is best known for its distinctive red color, which is caused by the high iron oxide content in the sandstone. 

The cliff not only offers a breathtaking view of the Wadden Sea, but is also a popular destination for Hikes along the cliffThe Red Cliff is particularly beautiful at sunset, when it shines in warm colors.

Ports

On Sylt there are Ports in Hörnum, Rantum, Munkmarsch and two in ListHowever, one of these harbors, Königshafen, is a protected breeding and resting area and is off-limits. Since 1985, Königshafen has been part of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. 

The other ports on the island, with their fish sandwich stalls and shops, invite you to stroll and shop. In Hörnum, the Excursion boats to the Halligen and the islands of Amrum, Föhr and Heligoland.

Keitum

The former captain's village Keitum is a charming village on Sylt, which with its traditional thatched Frisian houses and picturesque streets exudes a special charm. Historic Keitum was once the center of the island. Most of the houses date back to the 18th century, when whaling was still the island's main source of income. 

Today, the town is home to numerous art galleries, cafés, and boutiques. The Sylt Museum also offers fascinating insights into the island's history and culture.

Morsum Cliff

The Morsum Cliff was formed about 150.000 years ago. During the Saale Ice Age, the earth's layers were pushed together by glacial drift.

Hörnum Odde

The Hörnum Odde is the southernmost tip of Sylt and a popular nature destination. This unique headland extends into the North Sea and offers impressive views of the sea and the surrounding landscape. The Odde is known for its untouched nature, its dune landscapes and rich bird life

Especially during hikes or walks along the coast, you can enjoy the peace and space of this corner of Sylt. It is a fascinating example of the dynamic coastal landscape of the island.
