With the island-wide route network of the Sylt Transport Company, you can easily reach and explore all of Sylt's towns and villages throughout the day. The bike racks at the rear of the buses are very practical if you're running out of steam or just want to get to the nearest beach bar faster.

In 1898, the "Altes Kurhaus" (Old Kurhaus) was built in Westerland. Today, it houses the town hall and the "Altes Kursaal" (Old Kursaal on the town hall square).

Your shopping paradise in the heart of the island

Westerland shopping experiences for all occasions

Look forward to cool shops and a relaxed atmosphere while shopping in Westerland. The capital of Sylt offers you the Friedrichstrasse certainly the most cosmopolitan flair on the entire island. This extends from the train station along Wilhelmstraße to the beach promenade and presents a variety of smaller owner-operated shops and larger fashion stores. Past the “Fat Wilhelmine”, one of Westerland's landmarks, you will find the HB Jensen Sylt, oldest department store on the island, which, in addition to the fashion house, also has a large technology store. A little further west, you can enter the world of Fashion house Hellner Sylt The building measures around 1,000 square meters and is architecturally inspired by Sylt's unique natural landscape.

In the street parallel to Friedrichstraße Strandstraße You can also browse the numerous shops and boutiques for all ages. Great accessory, decoration, and art shops are usually located in the more hidden side streets or connecting streets between the main shopping streets. Another tip is the trendy fashion store Roy Sylt. 

And it is clear: If you shop, you also need to take a break. lovingly designed bistros and cafés in Westerland are the ideal place for this. Along with a cappuccino, you can enjoy a delicious snack and a fascinating view of the vibrant hustle and bustle of the pedestrian zone.
