Rummel Rummel Ruttje. Rummelpott and Mask Run
Special exhibition // October 12, 2025 to March 8, 2026
The Sylt Museum Starting October 12th, a special exhibition offers insights into the long-standing Sylt tradition of the Rummelpottlaufen (masquerade run). To this day, on New Year's Eve, the doors are opened to the Rummelpottläufer (runners), who parade through the island's villages wearing wild makeup and costumes, singing songs. This honors a special begging tradition and keeps it alive. You can also look forward to graphic works by the artist Willem Grimm, who explored the theme of masking and the Rummelpottlaufen (masquerade run) throughout his career.
