Parking on Sylt

Our parking tips

How to avoid traffic jams

Lister Elbow

At the very top of northern Sylt, parking is limited and the streets are narrow. Add to that the cyclists, pedestrians, and sheep. We recommend a car-free visit to Germany's northernmost point (the sign proving this can only be found on foot, anyway).

List

From the harbor parking lot or the Am Brünk parking lot, you can take wonderful walks along the Möwendeich pond or along the dune path. The stunning scenery makes for wonderful pictures to take home.

Kampen

In Kampen, you can park at the Buhne 16 parking lot and explore the beautiful landscape through the dunes, along the west beach, or along the edge of the Wadden Sea. Coming from the south, park in the campsite parking lot.

Wenningstedt

In Wenningstedt, you can park your car at the Mittelweg parking lot and explore the village. On foot or by bike, you can reach the Everyday People sculptures, the beach, or watch the geese at the village pond.

Westerland

Westerland has plenty of parking spaces and a parking garage right next to the train station. From here, you can often save time by avoiding traffic jams. Even with a ten-minute walk, you'll usually reach Friedrichstraße faster than if you were looking for one of the coveted parking spaces in the center. You might even discover something new and beautiful: ornaments on house walls, small paths to the beach, or a cute little house.

Keitum

The best way to explore the Captain's Village of Keitum is on foot, as the streets are not only narrow, but the charm of the old village and its houses can only be seen by strolling through the streets and looking around.

Rantum

The parking lot at Rantum Harbor is ideal for walking around the Rantum Basin and along the dike. Here, you can discover various bird species you may not have even heard of.

If you come from the south, there is a wooden walkway through the dunes to the beach if you park in the Tadjem Deel parking lot.

Hörnum

In the south of the island, park your vehicle in the parking lot at the heath just after entering the village. From there, you can take a walk through the entire village, including a lap around the golf course and Hörnumer Odde, the southern tip of Sylt.
