Why Sylt is a popular destination for campers

Camping on Sylt means freedom, nature, and pure relaxation. With well-equipped pitches, breathtaking scenery, and countless activity options, the island offers everything a camper's heart desires. Many campsites on Sylt are located directly in the heart of nature—with views of the Wadden Sea, near dunes, or surrounded by picturesque heathland. The campsites on Sylt are diverse and offer something for everyone: family-friendly sites with playgrounds and services such as bread delivery and bike rentals, as well as quiet, natural sites for individualists. Modern sanitary facilities and pitches with electrical hookups ensure comfort.

Driving on rails can be so beautiful

The red DB Sylt Shuttle transports a limited number of motorhomes up to 10m in length, so a reservation is recommended.

If the vehicle's dimensions don't allow it to fit on the double-decker units, it will be transported on the single-decker units. Depending on the loading technology, you may drive backward onto the train.

How to get to the island with a camper

The blue AUTOZUG Sylt transports smaller motorhomes (including those with roof hatches) up to 6m in length, 2,70m in height, and 3t in total weight. Larger motorhomes (over 10m in total length, over 3t in total weight) are transported in groups of 4-6 vehicles per trip.

During loading, these vehicles must reverse onto the tractor unit . Furthermore, a ride is only guaranteed with prior reservation.

Sylt ferry

Without shunting onto the ferry from Havneby to List on Sylt

Unlike the car trains, the Sylt ferries transport all motorhomes and caravans. Different fares apply depending on the vehicle length.

You can also reserve a parking space for your caravan or motorhome on the Sylt ferry. This is especially recommended during peak season.

If you arrive late in the evening, there is the possibility of an inexpensive overnight stay at the Oasen Rømø campervan site, which is 3 km from the harbor.
