The concept store has just moved from Braderup to Sylt Quelle in Rantum, bringing together art, fashion, design, gourmet food, and a host of other special items under one roof. The vintage market also offers a magical mix: from select designer furniture and art to a wide variety of clothing, handcrafted items, and all sorts of beautiful things. It's definitely worth taking some time to browse, enjoy, and unwind.

Flea markets in Wenningstedt

There's something for everyone to discover here!

During the season, a small flea market is held occasionally on the meadow right next to the Wenningstedt village pond and the Frisian chapel, centered around the turquoise VW T3 camper van, Küstenbohne . Here you can browse for clothing for adults and children, all sorts of lovely things, and treat yourself to a really good coffee from the espresso machine. Dates are announced relatively spontaneously and are weather dependent. Camper van owner Jette Behrens keeps you updated on Instagram.

It won't take place again until 2027!

A true classic among Sylt's flea markets: During the season, the meadow by the Wenningstedt mini-golf course transforms every Tuesday into a colorful jumble of dishes, antiques, nautical finds, jewelry, clothing, and a touch of kitsch. The location is particularly lovely: Just a stone's throw from the Haus am Kliff and the promenade, the flea market can be easily combined with a stroll along the beach. And as a bonus, you'll be doing some good at the same time: The stall fees go to charitable projects in Wenningstedt-Braderup.

Lister flea market at the harbor

The setting for a leisurely browsing session could hardly be more nautical: a vibrant flea market takes place regularly during the summer months right on the harbor in List. Amidst the harbor atmosphere and North Sea air, it's wonderful to stroll from stall to stall and see what the tables have to offer. Despite the spacious location, the atmosphere is pleasantly personal and almost familial. Truly typical of Sylt!

The selection is as diverse as the people behind the stalls: alongside classic bric-a-brac and tableware, you'll find art and handmade items, jams, and all sorts of lovely things looking for new homes. A flea market without unnecessary frills, but with all the more charm. And a great opportunity to combine a visit to Lister harbor with a leisurely browse and a delicious fish sandwich.

Trodelmarkt
in Archsum

You can find plenty of Sylt souvenirs all over the island. But for something truly special and unique, head to the island's markets. Whether it's the weekly market in Westerland, the flea market in Hörnum at the harbor, or the flea market in Archsum. You'll find the latter on Heeleker Street, just turn left off the main road.

The warm-hearted Mrs. Jensen offers a truly wonderful selection of items in her lovingly converted garage. From jewelry and rarities to lamps from bygone eras, there's something for everyone. The proceeds from her private flea market are donated to charity.

Housewives' flea market

A true Sylt flea market institution: During the season, the housewives' flea market takes place every Thursday in front of the Westerland town hall. Many long-established vendors are now fixtures, while the rotating stalls ensure there's always something new to discover. From small bargains and antiques to all sorts of knick-knacks, you'll find it all. So you can spend a few euros or even a generous sum. And the best part: Browsing here also supports a good cause, as the stall fees benefit the Sylt school association and thus the students of Sylt.

Market

Every year on April 1st, the season for the traditional Westerland weekly market begins. It takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 13 p.m. in front of the town hall. The selection remains diverse and regionally focused. Visitors can look forward to fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of cheeses, local meats, baked goods, Greek specialties, and hot dishes. The range is complemented by handcrafted products, including leather goods, furs, woolen textiles, and decorative items made of olive wood. During the off-season, the weekly market is held only on Saturdays.

A second-hand tip for you!

You enjoy browsing for well-preserved items,
that are far too good to throw away?

Second-hand shops are rather rare on Sylt. A visit to the Remondis recycling center in Rantum can therefore be worthwhile. Well-preserved items are regularly dropped off there, waiting for a second life.
From household goods and decorations to small treasures, there's always something to be found – with a bit of luck, even a piece of furniture.

Handmade pennants, second-hand items & more

A shop where there's something to discover around every corner: At Hafen 9 in Rantum, art meets design, and handmade items meet secondhand goods. Behind this unique creative concept is the artist and designer Carmen Seifert. With her handcrafted pennants, she creates truly one-of-a-kind pieces, and she also designs shirts, hoodies, jackets, and socks. Selected artworks are also available to discover and purchase. Those who venture further into the back of the shop will find a small treasure trove of secondhand fashion. Here, browsing and trying on clothes to their heart's content is encouraged. And the location couldn't be more perfect: Situated directly on the Rantum Basin and next to the coffee roastery, a visit can be wonderfully combined with a stroll around the basin and an excellent flat white made with Okke coffee. A visit is definitely worthwhile!

Café Curve

Coffee, art & home accessories in Braderup

Café Curve is primarily known for its excellent coffee creations and its cozy garden on the edge of the Braderup Heath. But a visit to the upper floor is just as worthwhile. In the shop above the café, you'll find a unique mix of interior design items, Moroccan rugs, art, and all sorts of beautiful things for your home. Vintage enthusiasts can also occasionally find treasures here. Among all the special pieces, several racks with carefully selected items await your browsing. Right next door, a visit to the Sylt Leather Manufactory is also highly recommended , where exquisite, handcrafted items are made to last a lifetime. A trip to Braderup can thus be wonderfully combined with coffee and cake, browsing, and a bit of shopping.

Vintage insider tips

Besides the well-known flea markets and established second-hand shops, it's always worth keeping your eyes open on Sylt. Sometimes the best opportunities are the small and spontaneous sales: a clothes rack by the roadside, a private house or garage sale, and the occasional pop-up shop that only opens for a short time.

Many of these events are announced relatively last-minute via Instagram, Facebook, or the classic way, with signs by the roadside. So, if you enjoy browsing, keep your eyes peeled as you cycle around the island. Sometimes the best finds are hidden exactly where you least expect them. And perhaps your next bike ride will lead you to a new favorite item with a story to tell.
