Your Sylt world of enjoyment

Enjoy delicious food by the sea, from List to Hörnum, all year round!

Wonderful natural landscapes, powerful North Sea waves, and long beaches characterize island life. But another factor is just as important on Sylt: the diverse culinary offerings and the delicious options that go with them. You can start the day with a hearty breakfast in the Morsum meadows, on the Keitum mudflats, or with crêpes on the beach. In the afternoon, enjoy homemade cake creations in the island's bakeries. And in the evening, you can either delve into Michelin-starred cuisine or watch the sun sink into the sea in a cool surfer deli. The island offers so many incredible delicacies. And it's great fun to keep discovering and enjoying new things.

The best enjoyment tips
for your Sylt holiday

Good food on Sylt is as uniquely diverse as the island itself. In more than 200 restaurants, you can sample everything that makes Sylt so special, from authentic island specialties like herring and oysters to international Michelin-starred cuisine. A single vacation probably won't be enough to sample everything on every menu. But you have to start somewhere.

Even at breakfast, there are so many fantastic options. Depending on your mood, time, and hunger, the island offers a full range. Popular breakfast and brunch options include the Ingwersen bakery in Morsum, the Sansibar, and the Käseklub in Keitum.

For lunch, the bistro "Zur Goldenen Möwe" is a perfect place to stop after a stroll along the Westerland promenade. The Samoa Seepferdchen restaurant offers excellent service and delicious creations throughout the day and evening.

You can get really good coffee from a portafilter machine in many places on Sylt, but especially at Café Curve in Braderup or Sydhavn in Hörnum.

And in the evening? From the Dorfkrug to the Sturmhaube in Kampen to the Miramar in Westerland—you'll be truly pampered here, too! We could go on forever...have fun exploring and tasting!

star cuisine on Sylt

Sylt - a paradise for the fine taste

On Sylt, you can expect not only a rich selection of special and unique restaurants and more, but also a generous portion of Michelin-starred cuisine. This is ensured by several Sylt hosts and their outstanding kitchen teams. Because a star or an award is never the work of just one person. The overall concept must be right: the atmosphere, the teamwork, and, of course, what ends up on the plate. The Söl'ring Hof in Rantum on the dune is a culinary pioneer with two Michelin stars and three red Gault&Millau toques. Chef Jan-Philipp Berner and his team ensure this with diligence, feeling, and passion year after year. Other Michelin-starred establishments can be found in Tinnum at Holger Bodendorf's Restaurant Bodendorf's in Landhaus Stricker, in Hörnum at KAI3, where Felix Gabel and his team will spoil you with first-class cuisine, and in Keitum at Tipken's by Nils Henkel in the Severin*s Resort & Spa. Other restaurants that have also received accolades from rigorous critics include Jörg Müller (JM) and "Hardy's" at the Hotel Stadt Hamburg. Both are Westerland institutions with fantastic cuisine and equally magnificent bars and wine lists.

Inspiration, passion & pure taste experiences…

Champagne

Whether enjoying a romantic evening in a Kampen restaurant or enjoying a sundowner on the west beach with friends, a glass of champagne is as much a part of Sylt as fine sand is of the sea. You can find these fine wines all over the island in beach bars like Buhne 16 and the Sansibar, or even in exclusive hotels like the Miramar. The drink's popularity was once fueled by the sparkling island air and, of course, by the high society.

Coastal flair - sparkling enjoyment for special moments on the island.

Beach bistros

Culinary delights directly by the sea

You can't enjoy Sylt's delicacies any closer to the North Sea – unless you picnic right on the tide line. With the surf in view, the fish tastes almost as if it were home-caught. Red wine at sunset, fresh fish for lunch, homemade cake on stormy Sylt afternoons. In the beach bistros, which are strung like pearls along the Sylt coast, casualness replaces the dress code. The sound of the sea is often accompanied by lounge music, which sometimes transitions into faster beats as the sun sets. Many of the beach bistros are popular party locations for balmy summer nights.
