Sylt's unique location makes a trip to the neighboring islands or even to neighboring Denmark easy! Whether as a short break during your vacation or a stopover on your arrival or departure, we've put together a few tips:

How to get to Rømø

The Sylt ferry Departs several times a day from List to Rømø. You can take the ferry either as a pedestrian, by bicycle, or with your car.

How to get to Amrum

The Adler ships* depart daily from Hörnum to Amrum from spring to autumn. In the winter months, you can take the WDR ferries from Dagebüll to Amrum. You can reach Dagebüll from Niebüll by car or by NEG.

Foehr

The so-called Frisian Caribbean captivates with its beautiful green nature and Frisian traditions. Winding alleys, quaint Frisian houses, and numerous restaurants and cafés with sea views characterize the townscape of Wyk on Föhr.

Nolde Stiftung Seebüll

Art and garden lovers shouldn't miss a visit to the former home and studio of the painter Emil Nolde. While his works can be admired inside, the beautiful garden invites you to take a stroll.

How to get to the Nolde Foundation

The museum is located on the Danish border and can be reached by car from Niebüll in 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the regional train from Westerland to Klanxbüll or Niebüll and then R110 bus reach the museum.

Husum

The port city invites you to an extensive shopping spree. The writer Theodor Storm, whose house can be visited in Husum, nicknamed it the "grey city by the sea."

How to get to Husum

Regional train From Westerland, you can reach Husum within an hour. The city center is within walking distance of the train station.

Billund

The small town in Denmark is a highlight for children, as the famous LEGO bricks are manufactured here. In addition to the famous Legoland, other attractions for families have now opened in Billund.

The Sylt ferry There are several daily departures from List to Rømø. From there, you can reach Billund by car in 1 hours.

Ribe

This small, cozy town in Denmark is actually Denmark's oldest. From the cathedral tower, you can admire the historic center from above. Numerous small shops and cafés in half-timbered houses invite you to stroll through the narrow streets.

How to get to Ribe

The Sylt ferry There are several daily departures from List to Rømø. From there, you can reach Ribe by car in 45 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the train to Niebüll and change there to the train towards Esbjerg (RB66).

Heligoland

On a day trip to Heligoland, you'll see spectacular red cliffs and, with a bit of luck, grey seals and gannets in their natural habitat. You'll also enjoy duty-free shopping, maritime cuisine, and the unique open-sea atmosphere.
